MYTHS OF BEAUTY
Their are a lot of misconceptions when comes to beauty and skin care. Not all the old age practices our granny's said makes skin blissful. The old cliche on all the kitchen items can be put on skin is not true. Upgrade your skin game by knowing the myths you thought where benefiting you.
Turmeric
Yes, Turmeric that has been used since ages and considered as one of the best think that adds a glow to your face. People often use this in the face mask or apply directly but sorry to burst that bubble because it does nothing on your face except for leaving a yellow tint on the face which people consider as glow.
If you don't believe me just grab a bowl add some turmeric and water mix that with your fingers (don't wear gloves) see your nails they get stained yellow does that mean they too glowed up.
Coconut oil
Applying coconut oil on your face is really a bad idea. There is an unpopular opinion that coconut oil lightens the skin complexion or moisturize it but it just harms the skin. As coconut oil is comedogenic ( block the pores). So everytime you apply the oil on your skin you are just blocking pores.
Always try to get your hands on the things which are non comedogenic.
Sunscreen should be applied only outdoors
There is a amiss that one should apply sunscreen only when he/she is leaving the house but sadly this is not true. Sunlight consists of 2 types of harmful rays UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin and is much more stronger then UVB says. The glass windows in our house are able to block UVB rays while UVA rays can easily pass through that. Which means if you are indoors you are still exposed to UVA rays.
Sunscreen blocks both the rays and hence it is important for you to apply it even indoors.
Open pores can be closed
This is the thing which has to be mentioned here. Now most of us think splashing hot water or putting hot towel on face open pores but pores cannot be opened or closed just by doing so.
The hot water is just a way to clean your skin deeply and prepping your skin for your further skin care process.
Scrub
Exfoliating your skin is must and facial scrubs helps in removing the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Basically there are 2 types of exfoliant.
Chemical exfoliant and physical exfoliant.
Chemical exfoliant are nothing but chemical peels.
Physical exfoliant contain some amount of rough particles and requires rubbing action. If the scrub contains large and irregular shaped particles it causes micro tears on the skin surface which gradually damages the skin.
• When you zealously buff your face with such scrubs you are seizing the ability of the skin to reduce itself and to make it worse some scrubs have strong fragrance which irritates the skin.
Pro tip
• Chemical exfoliant are better than physical exfoliant as they penetrate deep into the skin.
• Use gentle scrubs with mild or no fragrance.
•Over and harsh exfoliation leads to early aging.
•Tingling of the skin during scrub doesn't mean its cleaning deep pore. Some scrubs contain menthol, peppermint and eucalyptus that tingle.
